My hope is that you fall into savasana feeling like a cookie on a baking sheet…heart rising with your body expanding out from every edge and melting into the ground.
Meet Colleen
I’m a native Jersey girl – born and raised in Manahawkin, the gateway to Long Beach Island. I met and married a local Ocean City boy, and together we have two teenage sons along with a scrappy Italian water dog.
A self-proclaimed mermaid, I feel most myself splashing in the waves with the sun kissing my face.
I teach from the heart – Bhakti Style. Each class is a one-of-a-kind experience delivered with a whole-lotta-love and sense of humor. My motto is “take your practice seriously and yourself lightly”.
I’m a certified meditation teacher and a Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT 200 and RPYT yoga instructor.
I’m forever a student and LOVE to learn. Ten years of studying yoga has led me through hundreds of hours of additional learning and certifications. Including, meditation, yoga nidra, prenatal/postnatal, yoga for fertility, restorative and yin yoga, chanting, yoga philosophy, the art of assisting, fascia release & mobility, and pelvic floor disorders.
Why Solstice?
I understand the basic scientific side of the solstice (the tilt of the Earth towards the sun/moon) but it makes my head swirl. My connection to solstice is spiritual.
I was born 5 days before the summer solstice. A summer babe, as I like to say. I’m part Native American (Blackfoot). My father, a boat builder and commercial clammer, instilled in me a great love for Mother Nature. As a kid, I ran barefoot through cedar trails and squished my toes in the Barnegat Bay mud to harvest clams. I was - and still am - fueled by the sun. The summer solstice marks the season of light and energy, and brings me back to my roots.
My journey through the darkness of the winter solstice is powerful. My son, born 2 weeks shy of the summer solstice, received his life-saving multi-organ transplant on the winter solstice in 2006. The longest night of the year gave us the brightest rebirth and transformation we have ever experienced.
Yoga has offered me the opportunity to explore light within myself and everything around us–to heal and to move in harmony with my mind, body, and spirit. Most of all, yoga has shown me there is always light within darkness.
Love from the students
“Colleen Seng is my favorite instructor of all time, because of the way she meets the needs of her students. Colleen listens carefully and recommends specific accommodations based on ailments. The best is the cadence of the class, rigorous flows followed by a period of recovery.”
— TRACY H.
“Colleen’s unique flows are amazing - a great way to strengthen the mind and body! Her humor and natural teaching style make her classes fun and inviting for everyone! She gives you courage (and great cues) to try poses you might not otherwise attempt and her lighthearted style and wisdom (and perfectly crafted playlists!) are the best way to start the week! So grateful to have her as an instructor and for her contagious upbeat energy!”
— KIMBERLY G.
This class is the highlight of my week! Colleen has us working on a theme that we build upon each week. She selects readings and specific poses that align with each theme. It is evident that Colleen brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to her class. The final 15 minutes of class concludes with yoga nidra which is wonderful!
